We believe in a world where the able help the people who are not yet able to help themselves. We believe by showing this we inspire others to join in this believe.
In partnership with local governance and having a local presence, we can improve the healthcare and childcare in Sierra Leone in a smart and practical way. Our long term vision is to set up and support self-sustainable and self-provisioning healthcare examples which can be copied by governments and other organizations.
Mission
Our mission is to create a healthcare standard within Sierra Leone which rivals that of Western world, to decrease suffering and increase childcare.
Our organization consists of diverse talents and skill sets, e.g. healthcare, childcare and IT expertise. Although our team has her roots in The Netherlands we have now a diverse team with international experience. This diversity empowers us to come up with creative and practical solutions for the various challenges on the African continent.
Goal
The non-profit Smarter Hospital Foundation is a joint initiative of befriended doctors with local presence in Sierra Leone and a multidisciplinary team in the Netherlands which together define projects to support and improve local healthcare and childcare in Sierra Leone with the focus on Makeni and Yele.
The Smarter Hospital Foundation set itself the goals to:
- Provide hospitals in Sierra Leone with doctors, medicines, medical equipment, improved infrastructure, training, knowledge and IT.
- Improve primary education in Sierra Leone by improving infrastructure and education methods.
Guiding operational principles
To ensure all donated money and efforts of all volunteers, suppliers and partners has the most effective and efficient impact we have obliged ourselves to the following principles:
- We help the people who cannot help themselves.
- We inspire by example .
- At least ninety percent (90%) of our resources will be spent directly to achieve our goals.
Sustainable Development Goals
The Foundation has committed itself in its statutes to the Millennium Goals prepared by the United Nations in 2000. In the meantime these have been followed by 17 Sustainable Development Goals with the aim to make the world a better place in 2030. The Smarter Hospital foundation supports 2 of these goals directly and 4 indirectly. In everything that the foundation aims they will respect and implement these goals.
