For the 3rd year in a row we were running the Teach-the-Teacher program together with our partner EducAid Sierra Leone. The goal of the program is to establish trust between the teachers and EducAid’s teacher trainers and introduced new ways of working in the schools. These new ways of working improved relationships and classroom management with data across all five schools showing impressive improvements in literacy, student attendance, staff attendance and the attendance of girls compared to other schools in the area.
We had despite all the COVID-19 measures in Sierra Leone good results again. We have a detailed report available which can be requested via info@smarter-hospital.com. Some details from the NPSE Results Analysis;
- 5/5 schools performed extremely well in English this year. EducAid provided English materials to the students that were in school.
- 4/5 schools performed well in General Science compared to last year’s performance.
- 5/5 schools have above 90% pass rate. SDA (100%), RC (95%), SLMB (97%), Ahmadiyya (98%) and Benevolent (98%). There is 100% pass rate for girls across all 5 schools.
- The best performing student is from RC with a score of 306 and she is a girl with an average of 61.2 across all her papers.
As we see this as a major success we continue the program for the school year 2020/2021 where on advice of EducAid we install a all year around mentor for supporting the teachers. More in the next chapter.
